A few of these juveniles have shown ability. I'm not usually a fan of betting debutantes because it can be hard work especially over the minimum trip.
Fidra Bay is a daughter of Roderic O'Connor out of a Listed-winning mare who enjoyed a stiffer test of stamina. This bay filly is not the most expensive yearling at 23,000euros. She will need to be be primed or talented here to figure and at 33/1+ [has been 50/1+ Betfair] it is worth a speculative each way bet.
The interesting angle for this youngster's chance is that her trainer Alan Swinbank does well at this course and it has been something of a pointer when he has sent debutantes to race here. A few of his classier two-year-olds have won and generally these candidates have respectable win and place claims. Not the easiest of race but a horse which ticks a few boxes.
