2:20 Ayr - Speculative Bet (20th May)

An EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes over 6f on soft going. Seven two-year-olds compete in this race won last year by The Wow Signal. This could well be a strong field. A shame it's only two places for each-way backers. I have my eye on Michael Dod's charge Mr Globetrotter, a bay colt sired by Henrythenavigator out of a debut-winning mare. This February foal was purchased by the trainer at the yearling sales for 65,000 EUR. Cosy Seal Racing Ltd has a smart juvenile at Denton Hall Stables in Richter Scale, who won unchallenged at Thirsk. At present, Mr Globetrotter is priced 10/1 which doesn't really inspire as a tempting speculative bet. However, if this two-year-old colt drifts in the betting to 14/1+ I would have a small each-way bet. Dods does well with his debutantes and particularly so when racing on testing underfoot conditions.
